2012 Management Changes

USP is happy announce that Rich Janicki - Senior Vice President of Commercial and Charlie Lamb Senior General Manager of Operations have joined the ranks of United Spiral Pipe LLC. 

Rich Janicki - Senior VP Commercial has over 40 years of steel experience including 12 years in different pipe operations.  Rich was Senior VP for T&R Pipeline Service, Senior VP and head of the Welspun Spiral Weld Mill in Littlerock, VP of Operations as JSW United Steel in Baytown, Director of operations for US Pipe and Foundry in Burlington and Plant Manager for U.S. Steel Irvin Works.  Rich served on the Technical Board of ESAB flux and wire products as well as the Advisory Board of the University of Arkansas Engineering Department, Pulaski Technical College and Tulsa School of Welding.

Charlie Lamb - Senior General Manager of Operations has a 30 year background in steel and pipe making, with 18 years in pipe making. Most recently Charlie was the Global Director for Lincoln Electric in Cleveland and was involved in pipe mills around the world.  He was Plant Manager of the Welspun Spiral Pipe Mill in Little Rock, Plant Manager of the JSW Long Seam Pipe mill in Baytown, Plant Manager of the Long Seam mill at Napa Pipe in Napa and Manager of Engineering and Maintenance for Koppel Steel in Pittsburg.  Charlie is a member of the ASQ, a certified Quality Auditor and a Six-Sigma Black Belt.  He has served on the advisory boards for the University of Arkansas, ITT Technical Institute and Pulaski Technical College.  Charlie previously served on the Governors Quality Award Board in 2010.

United Spiral Pipe Breaks Ground for New Facility

PITTSBURG, Calif., Feb. 29 -- PRNewswire -- United Spiral Pipe, LLC, a joint venture of United States Steel Corporation, POSCO and SeAH Steel Corporation today broke ground for a state-of-the-art spiral welded pipe manufacturing facility. The new plant will have world-class pipe making and coating facilities and be capable of producing 300,000 net tons of API specification line pipe per year in outside diameters ranging from 24 inches to 64 inches. Joint venture with Korean Company Makes $93M investment in California

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger today applauded the United Spiral Pipe Company for choosing Pittsburg, Californiaas the site for its new pipe manufacturing plant.  The company is a joint venture by U.S. Steel, South Korean steelmaker POSCO and South Korean tube products maker SeAH.  Once this new plant is complete in 2008, it will produce large-diameter steel pipes.
"This is more good news for California's economy because this project represents a $93 million investment and the creation of up to 175 well-paying jobs," said Governor Schwarzenegger.
